Pilot Prep Course

FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Exam


  • Aerodynamics, Engines, Instruments

Phase 1: Saturday, October 1, 2016


  • Communications, Weather, Airplane Performance

Phase 2: Saturday, December 3, 2016


  • Navigation, Aviation Physiology

Phase 3: Saturday, February 11, 2016


The first step in becoming a Private Pilot is to pass the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Exam. This class meets 2 Saturdays a month during the school year to prepare students to pass the exam.


You need to:


  • Complete the Pilot Prep Course application
  • Obtain your school transcript (Minimum GPA considered: 2.5 unweighted)
  • Mail both to: AEFCO, 7505 Mallard Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80831
  • DEADLINE to apply: Thursday, September 22, 2016
  • AEFCO Board Interviews: Saturday, September 24, 2016
  • 2016 Candidates Notified: no later than Tuesday, September 27, 2016

This program allows selected young people, ages 15 - 19, to participate in aviation activities and enable them to make future career choices involving aviation and aerospace fields. (Find more information)
